An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Planning Enforcement Team as a Planning Enforcement Officer. Planning enforcement
is a deeply rewarding career path, where you will get to witness the positive impact of your work first-hand, as you investigate
breaches of planning control in the district, and, if necessary, take the appropriate enforcement action. Planning enforcement
sits at the heart of the planning system – without it, planning is pointless. In this role you would be investigating alleged
breaches of the Planning Act, as well as offences in respect of Listed Buildings, Conservation Areas and Tree Protection Orders.

The post requires a conscientious and analytical individual who will be responsible for their own varied caseload, for which
organisational and communication skills are essential. The post will involve desk-based investigations, as well as site visits and
meeting people face-to-face. Enforcement Officers will come into contact with professionals across sectors as well as a variety of
community members, and also work closely with other departments within the Council.

Part of the job is mediating disputes and resolving conflicts. The role requires negotiation skills and a calm temperament that
allows you to respond to emotional situations with professionalism. Excellent listening skills, managing expectations sensitively,
and dealing with people under difficult circumstances are essential.

A full driving licence and use of a car for work purposes is required, for which an essential user allowance will be payable.

For more information on the position, the essential requirements and what it delivers please see the role profile. Please make
sure you submit a supporting statement or cover letter that shows how you meet the essential criteria for the position.

In return for your valued contribution, we can offer you a competitive benefits package which includes hybrid working options,
training and development opportunities, generous annual leave and flexi time, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
and more. Our website has information on our values and the benefits we offer our staff -

The district is home to many different people, and we want our workforce to better reflect our diverse local communities. We
encourage and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. Many of our staff also work flexibly in
different ways for example both part-time, compressed hours and everything in between; please talk to us about the flexibility you
need to do this role.
