Summary


We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated Activities Co-ordinator to join our team.

Mulberry 1 is an Acute Assessment Unit welcoming patients from the acute pathway for a period of up to 3 days.

We have a strong MDT presence and as a team have an abundance of energy and expertise whilst we work in collaboration both as a team and with our colleagues from neighbouring services and service users.

The ideal candidate will have a strong team work ethic, sense of accountability, accompanied by an ability to work under considerable pressure at times. This post is open to people with the right attributes to complement and enhance our team.

The successful applicant will work as part of the multidisciplinary team but will be supernumerary to the nursing team on each shift in order to protect group and individual patient activity. You will plan and co-ordinate the ward activity programme, co-facilitating groups with nursing staff, healthcare assistants, and the ward Occupational Therapist.

We are looking to recruit someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, and at times, challenging environment. You must be able to work flexibly, creatively, and efficiently within the MDT and have excellent communication skills, supporting and motivating service usersto engage in meaningful activity on the ward . This will be dependent on the changing needs of the patient group, and informed by close team working, handover meetings, case discussions etc.

You will be committed to working in Adults & Specialist Mental Health Services and be enthusiastic about joining our skilled and supportive multi-disciplinary team (MDT). The post holder will work intensively with service users with the ages of 18 to 65 years and will be expected to develop and deliver both group and individual sessions which support recovery and promote well-being, under the guidance of a qualified member of staff

• To provide and co-ordinate meaningful group and activity sessions for the patients.
• To develop activities with individuals and support people to use and access these.
• To offer group-based sessions on ward. These may have a variety of focuses, including reminiscence, social inclusion, communication, leisure, and recovery.
• To work alongside the nursing team
• As an integral and highly valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, the Activity Co-ordinator will provide support and practical assistance to older people in order for them to regain confidence in their skills and abilities to enable a successful re-integration into the community
