Summary

To lead and manage the Manual Handling clinical and non-clinical training and provide a highly specialised advisory service for the Trust. In both the moving and handling of patients and inanimate loads to fulfil statutory requirements of manual handling, ergonomics and the risk assessment processes associated with all the work areas of the organisation. To develop and participate in a training network in safe moving and handling, for all staff of the Trust. Ensuring that the Trust meets the requirements of European and nation regulations and standards. To provide specialist advice to Trust staff in safe moving and handling and act as the subject matter expert in moving and handling for the Trust.To co-ordinate and undertake Manual Handling Training of Trust staff and Bank staff. The successful applicant will be responsible for the maintenance/recording of all manual handling records and to review and maintain up to date policies for the manual handling of patients and inanimate load handling to ensure compliance with relevant legislation. Your responsibilities will include coordination/delivering organisational wide induction, mandatory sessions, and risk assessments. Responsible for delivery of up to date, clear, understandable information including safer handling techniques, underpinned by evidence-based decision making that links to recognised safer handling techniques and risk management. As Service Lead respond to requests for assistance with assessment of patients with more complex moving and handling needs; this will include working clinically to support ward staff, advising on the correct techniques and equipment to be used on an individual patient basis. Have a high level of clinical skills relating to manual handling and the use of complex equipment and the required level of clinical training to support staff with the transportation of patients. Lead on all the investigation of incidents involving manual handling, including RIDDOR investigations. To liaise with the relevant departments, Risk and Patient Safety, Occupational Health, Managers and Senior staff regarding any recommendations to be actioned.
