Job Description
The Technician will provide first line technical support and back up to their fellow colleagues. The technician will deputize in the absence of the LPG Terminal Production Manager and respond to the daily functions of the department to ensure smooth running.
The daily duties are as follows:
To assist with the operational activities of the team, being primarily responsible to the LPG Terminal production manager.
Deputize in the Absence of the LPG Manager as Site Controller at the Plant
Site Safety and safe control of operations
Assist with Preparation of Routine and Non-Routine Operations for approval.
Competent person onsite during Routine and Non-Routine Operations.
Provide Technical Support onsite to their colleagues.
Accurate Completion of documentation and records.
Participate in the emergency call out duty Rota as Duty Officer (Plant).
Issue Permits to Work
Support Officer with planning and managing Pirana workload.
Ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with Company policies & procedures.
Undertaking work-based risk assessments
Commissioning and decommissioning pressure systems through safe operations
Addressing and resolving any unplanned reactive maintenance or technical engineering issues.
Always Ensuring uninterrupted gas supplies through safe operations
Carrying out LPG ship discharge operations and overseeing Jetty operators.
Take Part in a 1in 4 Duty Emergency Rota.
Management:
Responsible for the Management of the Plant team in the absence of the LPG Manager during holidays or sick leave
Health & Safety:
Contribute and support the LPG Manager in the successful management of the HS&E and Risk in the department – no improvement notices.
The post holder will be responsible for their own health and safety and the impact of their advice and actions on others and seeks guidance as appropriate. They will be responsible for identifying any possible risks or near misses via the Hazard reporting procedure.
Key Working Relationships (internal and external):
Internal Relationships – Role requires regular contact with the LPG Terminal Production managerto provide performance information with regards work activities. Technician provides support to Operational Colleagues in Asset Team to enable delivery of all projects works.
External Relationships – Role requires an excellent relationship to be developed with Customers, Emergency Services, Other Utilities and External Contractors.
Minimum Requirements:
IOSH Managing Safety
5 years’ experience in a gas or similar industry
Demonstrable knowledge of plant maintenance and operation
Proven experience of emergency processes in the mains, LPG and/or Plant
Effective communications skills with internal and external stakeholders
Hold appropriate level of technical, operational and process knowledge relevant to gas and LPG
Be able to demonstrate understand and adherence to Health & Safety and Environmental legislation
Possess the knowledge and skills required to complete all job documentation
High level of personal and professional ethics and integrity
Able to work in a pressurised environment whilst meeting deadlines
Desirable skillset:
BTEC certificate, or equivalent, in Engineering or a similar industry
Minimum of 5 years experience in a Mechanical Engineering environment
CMI Level 3, or equivalent
