Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Customer Operations Engineer to join our client’s friendly team in Jersey! You will provide a safe and extremely high-quality service to our gas customers. Can you demonstrate a good knowledge of installation, operation, and maintenance of gas equipment? Do you love problem solving and working to assist and support customers? The daily duties are as follows:

• Complete downstream domestic gas work safely in accordance with Gas Regulations, codes of practice, and other standards within the industry
• Comply with the requirements of Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure
• Attend to public reported gas emergencies as a first responder in accordance with current industry and Company procedures
• Support the Network Operations and LPG Operations Teams in the location and repair of gas escapes and maintenance of downstream gas supply asset
• Complete gas work on gas meter installations from and including the emergency control valve to the gas installation pipework
• Complete gas work on appliances in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions including installation, servicing, fault finding and diagnostics
• Attend to customer enquiries and comfort visits
• Assist in the completion of safety audits and inspections as required
• Work may be completed inside customer properties or outside as required
• Supervise and support apprentices and trainees as required in the performance of the role
• Responsible for the control and correct use of van stocks, inventory items and consumable items
• Responsible for management of own time to ensure that all work requests are completed in accordance with the business and customer’s requirements
• Gas regulations, gas industry codes of practice, manufacturer instructions, Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure
• Record accurate details of gas work completed either on paper documentation or on electronic work records in accordance with current standards
• Work as part of the Customer Operations team to provide the highest standard of customer service and care
• Complete duties and responsibilities inside customer properties
• Ensure customer property is suitably protected at all times whilst completing work
• Promote the business and products in a positive way at all times

Minimum Requirements:

• 5 years post apprenticeship experience in installation, operation, and maintenance of domestic gas equipment
• ACS qualifications to include but not limited to; CCN1, CENWAT1, CPA1, CKR1, HTR1, MET1, CMDDA1, and CCLP1PD
• Effective communication skills
• Appropriate technical, operational and process knowledge relevant to Natural Gas and LPG
• Demonstrate and understand Technical/Engineering standards and codes of practise applied within the gas industry
• Demonstrate and understand Health and Safety
• Problem solving skills

Desirable skillset:

• ACS in non-domestic and/or commercial catering.
• ESP1 – Emergency Service Provider
