Are you an experienced Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) looking to progress in your nursing career to a Band 4 Nursing Associate role?

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston is looking to recruit our next cohort of Trainee Nurse Associates (TNA) for the apprenticeship programme starting in October 2024.

We are looking for experienced HCSWs, ideally from an acute health care setting who are keen to progress their nursing career. If you are passionate about learning, developing your clinical nursing skills and the underpinning knowledge to enable you to deliver excellent patient care, this apprenticeship may be the ideal developmental role for you.

This is a developmental role. As a TNA you will work towards progression into the post of Nursing Associate (NA) through the successful completion of the TNA programme which leads to the attainment of a Level 5 Foundation degree. You will be required to complete the academic component of the course and work as part of a team, delivering health and social care that focuses on the direct needs of service users. You will carry out specific clinical tasks and responsibilities as delegated by registered practitioners and will be able to work across the boundaries of care and organisations. You will be required to work a variety of clinical shifts including evenings, nights and weekends.

This is Level 5 apprenticeship course and is academically demanding, you will be expected to attend academic study one day a week during term time. You will be allocated an adult clinical base area where you will spend 60% of time on, but you will also spend 20% of the time on placements in a variety of clinical area including such areas as paediatrics, mental health, surgery, medicine, learning disability and the community (the remaining twenty percent will be focusing on the academic component).

After successfully completing the 2 year course, you will be eligible for a Band 4 Nursing Associate post ideally within your base area. You will be a registrant with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC). There are opportunities to progress further with your training to become a Registered Nurse.
