Summary

A Vacancy at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.


The post holder is responsible for providing safe, sensitive and competent patient care to children and families in the Children’s Unit under the direction of the department nursing staff, in keeping with departmental and Trust policies.

- Assists with and then following specific training and completion of
competencies, undertakes a range of predefined procedures, including
phlebotomy (taking blood) and ECG’s, and carries out delegated nursing
tasks subject to monitoring and evaluation by senior staff, also including
chaperoning if indicated, also using medical equipment, to monitor and record baseline observations.
• Assists in ensuring that a high level of quality care is offered to patients attending the department, acting as necessary as an advocate for the child
• Refer to and work with the play team to help the child overcome anxieties and encourage compliance with treatment
• Obtain specimens as instructed by nursing and medical teams.
• Reports any changes or concerns about the patients well-being to the
registered nurse
• Ensures patient information material is accessible and up-to-date, including clinic signage and notice boards.
• To wear the uniform issued for Healthcare Support Worker and to adhere to current uniform/dress code and to use relevant personal protective equipment.
• Maintains an updated knowledge base and skills level by taking ongoing education opportunities and mandatory training.
