About the Department of Banking and Finance
The Department of Banking and Finance brings together internationally renowned academics who undertake research into, and teach, a wide range of banking and finance-related topics. The Department is supported by two research centres: Centre for Digital Finance, and Centre for Empirical Research in Finance and Banking, where staff are actively engaged in cross-disciplinary research. Our taught programmes have earned international distinctions, for instance, the Accounting and Finance subject was ranked in the top 100 in the last QS World ranking. The department has now two planned MSc programmes (MSc in Sustainable Finance and MSc in Shipping Finance) which are scheduled to run in 2025.
About you
You will play a central role in furthering the research/teaching of the department, particularly, in the area of sustainable finance, and quantitative modelling. An experience of research and/or teaching in Fintech will be an advantage. It is expected that you will bring to the role a strong professional reputation in teaching and research, including the ability to produce world class research through publications in at least internationally excellent (3*) academic journals. You may have some experience of research grant activity. You will act as a leader and ambassador for us across management and enterprise or other engagement activities.
Experience of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels is essential, as is your ability to engage and inspire students and colleagues alike. Whether developing your own teaching approaches, acting as supervisor to your students or contributing to the effective administration of our department, you will enjoy scope to innovate and make a significant impact on teaching and research.
