Summary
The Keysoe Therapy and Well-Being Centre ponies and other animals provide a form of animal therapy and education to children and vulnerable adults. The Therapy Centre Animal Care Assistant will provide daily care to the ponies and other animals.
About the role:
General yard duties to include; feeding, mucking out, turning in/ out and all other tasks to maintain pony welfare
General animal husbandry tasks
Health and Safety awareness
Supporting with exercising animals
Cleaning and maintaining yard
Field maintenance as required
Interaction with clients and public
Ad hoc activities as requested by Management
Shift system will include weekend working
There are a variety of animals on site. You must be confident in handling horses for this role.
Working hours vary and are on a rota basis. You will be required to work some weekends due to events/bookings etc.
This apprenticeship is based on site in a practical setting so not lots of time sat in a classroom. If you did not gain your GCSE's in Maths & English we can support you to gain these whilst on programme.
You must be a UK resident or have lived in the EU for 3 years or more to apply for this role.
Training
All training will be provided on
site during your paid working hours.
Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination
of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training
Trainer Coach.
Qualifications required
A GCSE or equivalent pass in English
and maths is beneficial but not essential.
If you do not have passes, we will support you in achieving your
Functional Skills English and maths qualifications alongside your apprenticeship.
Skills required
Experienced in yard duties and horse grooming preferred
Ideally experience with other animals
Must be physically capable to deliver the tasks required
This role will require an enhanced DBS check on a frequent basis. Therefore the holder of the role must satisfy the evolving requirements of the DBS certification.
