Summary

About you and this role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Chartered Engineer/Hardware Discipline Engineer Manager with extensive experience of in-service inspection of pressure systems to become the Barry Site Deputy Asset Integrity Manager for our UKAS Type C Inspection Body accredited to EN17020 quality management system. Ideally the candidate should be a ‘Category 1’ (or working towards) inspector for ‘Major, Intermediate and Minor Systems’ as defined in UKAS RG2. It’s important that the applicant maintains and fosters an environment of trust, high morale, caring, humility and success.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that the integrity of all new and existing site pressure equipment complies with corporate standards, European and UK regulations and legislation, codes and standards for design and manufacture, and functional specifications to maximize containment and reliability of Barry site processes.
Act as the competent person for the Barry site with respect to the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) 2000. Draw up or certify Written Schemes of Examination (WSEs). Review WSEs at appropriate intervals for continued suitability, modifying when appropriate. Carry out examinations in accordance with WSEs. Review requests for postponement of WSE examinations in accordance with the PSSR and in particular that they do not give rise to danger.
Work with other functions, technology teams, outside professional bodies and colleagues to set and adopt strategies and policies of the Barry site and the culture to promote them.
Work with outside professional bodies to set the strategies and influence standards, codes, regulations and legislation effecting improvement for the department's defined area of responsibility.
Contribute to maintenance of ISO/IEC 17020 accreditation via internal and external audit administration.
Produce and update Quality Manual and procedures to ISO/IEC 17020.
Communicate and co-operate with mechanical maintenance and project groups throughout Dow to facilitate achievement of common or complimentary goals.
Conduct validation trials of new RVI equipment and NDT techniques.
Qualifications:

Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical or Materials Science.
Chartered Engineer
At least 3 years working within and engineering discipline associated with in-service inspection of pressure systems. Experience and knowledge should cover a range of activities (e.g. design, manufacture, inspection, operation, maintenance) associated with pressure vessels, heat exchangers, safety protective devices, rotating equipment, fabrication, construction, testing, design codes, H&S legislation, equipment maintenance, planning and computer based systems. Such experience should also have carried a high degree of responsibility.
Preferred Skills:

In service inspection of Shell and HRSG boilers
Facilitating external and internal auditors of EN17020 (or similar Quality Management Systems)
Previously acted as Plant Integrity Deputy Manager/ Supervisor
Developed/modified quality procedures to satisfy any observations/mandatory actions raised from audits.
