We have a new opportunity to join the Suffolk County Council (SCC) Residential Children’s Home Service as an Administrator working from our children's home in Bury St Edmunds. This is your opportunity as a professional and committed individual to join our friendly team which is focused on providing support to young people in residential care.
The overall aim of Suffolk County Council’s children’s homes is to provide a safe, nurturing, caring and homely environment for each child, where issues and concerns affecting their past, present and their future can be positively addressed and supported.

Your role and responsibilities
As a key member of the home's team, you will play a vital role in providing financial and administrative support to ensure efficient operations. Working closely with the manager, you will monitor finances and contribute to developing practices, systems, and procedures that drive continuous improvement within the home. You will be a go-to resource for guidance and assistance on administration and finance processes, navigating a dynamic and fast-paced environment with confidence. Additionally, you will provide essential administrative support to the Children's Home operational team, collaborating with the Home's Manager and the Business Support Assistant Manager to maintain critical management information for the Head of Service. Your contributions will be instrumental in streamlining operations, promoting financial responsibility, and supporting the home's leadership in delivering exceptional care.


You will need
- a good working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and finance
- ability to manage your own time and workload to meet challenging deadlines. To work confidently under your own initiative and work independently to resolve a range of issues
- good communication and IT skills, with an ability to contribute to a team approach
- a keen eye for detail and accuracy
- to contribute to improving systems both in the Home and across the service.
You will be required to attend a Warner Interview for this position as part of the recruitment process.

The team
Bury St Edmunds Children's Home is mixed-gendered, for up to 5 children aged 8 - 17 years old. We provide support for the children in our care to achieve the best possible outcomes in all aspects of their lives, including education, health, and social and fun activities, as well as supporting them to build positive and appropriate relationships.
