Summary

Join us as a Director in Commercial Mid-Market

  • We’re looking for someone to lead the delivery of the business’ strategic objectives by leading a team of relationship managers responsible for commercial customers in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Orkney and Shetland
  • You’ll be managing performance to build long term sustainable value for customers and colleagues
  • You’ll be joining a talented team, driving them to exceed challenging business goals and to deliver business growth
  • Although some of your time will be spent working from home or meeting clients, you’ll also spend three days each week, or as required, working from our Aberdeen hub to collaborate and connect with your colleagues

What you'll do

You’ll drive the delivery of Commercial Mid-Market strategic objectives, by leading a team of relationship managers responsible for a portfolio of customers to deliver the business strategy. By driving first class client satisfaction and colleague engagement and development, and by embedding and managing robust capital, risk and stewardship disciplines, you will deliver strong financial, customer and risk performance.

You’ll collaborate with product partners, and other bank teams, and coach the delivery of good outcomes, to serve our customers well, identify customer needs and provide appropriate products and services.

You will also:

  • Lead, manage and develop the team to achieve challenging business goals, drive business growth and establish a trusted adviser status with all customers
  • Engender a strong collaborative approach across the business to deliver market leading customer service and deal execution
  • Develop, lead and implement local business initiatives and strategies
  • Identify and manage risks, including the proactive management of problem loans, data quality and portfolio reporting
  • Support the delivery of the Climate Risk and Energy Transition business strategy
  • Provide leadership to help relationship managers establish and maintain relationships with key professional and intermediary communities to raise the profile of the bank in the local marketplace

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with a broad experience in banking, including regulatory, commercial and corporate environments, paired with a background in leading diverse professional teams and organisational, operational and cultural change.

In this role, a diploma in lending skills is mandatory but if you do not currently hold one, the exam can be taken up to six months after starting work.

In addition, you will need:

  • Established leadership skills to motivate, coach and develop a team of high performers
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant banking systems, processes and products, with a strong market awareness and an appreciation of the economic and financial outlook
  • Highly developed negotiation and networking skills along with a presence in the relevant market
  • Experience in generating new income streams and building outstanding customer relationships in the relevant market
  • A practical understanding and application of risk management disciplines
