Summary

Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Newcastle.

We offer a wide-ranging curriculum to our Further Education students, including Arboriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal Management, Countryside and the Environment, Engineering, Equine, Floristry, Motorsport, Professional Tree Surgery, Outdoor Adventure Sport, Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness and Uniformed Public Services.

We have an exciting opportunity for General Farm Worker with a keen eye for detail and good communication skills to join our farm team at our Askham Bryan College Farm. We are mixed farming enterprise covering 200ha. We are seeking an individual who will work alongside the current team at Westfield Farm, assisting with all duties relating to the dairy, sheep and beef enterprises. The farm milks 150 pedigree Holstein Friesen cows twice a day through a 10/10 rapid exit parlour and 60 through a robotic system. The milking takes around 1.5 hours to complete. The farm rears all its beef and dairy calves through a brand-new calf rearing and beef rearing system. The farm also has a flock of 200 breeding ewes lambing in February. We also farm a small block of arable growing a mixture of crops including Maize, Wheat, Barley, Sugar beet and vining peas.

You will be responsible to work alongside the current team assisting them across all enterprises and be able to fill in for them whilst on leave maintaining a high standard.

All relevant training will be provided. The successful candidate will be required Monday to Friday and some weekends. The rota allows for 4 days off fortnightly including a 3-day weekend. Full driver's license preferred but minimum of a tractor license essential.
