Summary


This a 6 month fixed term contract providing cover for long term sickness in the Telecoms team.

The role is to provide day to day management of the Telecoms services and associated systems across University Hospitals Dorset. To ensure this service is provided in a courteous and friendly manner and is responsive to the needs of the Trusts and their users.

Responsible for maintaining the Telecoms database (Access).

The post holder will split their working time between Poole and Bournemouth Hospitals, with occasional visits to other locations as required.

• Maintaining the Trust’s Mitel telephone system, which will include (but not limited to) configuring and installing new extensions; configuring and maintaining associated group functions; configuring and maintaining call routing across the network; assisting departments with the relocation of devices; diagnosing and rectifying faults; maintaining inbound/outbound SIP trunks; maintaining 24/7 system availability.
• Maintaining the Trust’s Netcall Liberty system, which will include (but not limited to) managing voicemail; configuring and maintaining auto-attendant functionality; configuring and maintaining call queuing functionality; configuring and maintaining automated contacts (which includes Major Incident and Appointment Reminders); maintaining 24/7 system availability.
• Maintaining the Telecoms master database (Access), including the links to Switchboard and Netcall Liberty.
• Utilising the Call Logger to generate activity reports.
• Manage the procurement and deployment of mobile devices across the Trust.
• Maintaining the Switchboard Mitel consoles.
• Maintaining the Trust’s On-Call system – Rota Watch.
• Maintaining the Trust’s Swissphone emergency paging system, which will include (but not limited to), configuring individual paging devices; maintaining the emergency response teams; maintaining 24/7 system availability.
• Maintaining the Trust’s non-emergency paging system, which will include (but not limited to), configuring individual devices; maintaining 24/7 system availability.

University Hospitals Dorset comprises the Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals and 4 other sites within the BCP conurbation.

In UHD there are approximately 10,000 employees working across the seven supported sites.

To service this workforce we currently have approximately 6,000 extensions deployed, comprising a mixture of physical handsets (corded and cordless, VoIP and analogue) and softphones all running on a Mitel platform. In addition we support several hundred elements of automated call handling, including auto-attendant, call queueing and automated outbound communication (Incident Response and Appointment Reminders) using the Netcall Liberty platform.

We also support a variety of Emergency Response pagers, Mobile devices and an Instant Messaging communication platform.

The Telecoms team is part of the Informatics department (IT and Telecoms), where we work closely with a number of the other teams (Desktop, Infrastructure and Service Desk) to provide services to the Trust.

The team currently consists of 8 (7.6 WTE) staff who work closely together. We highly value team working and excellent communication skills, both within the team and with other teams across Informatics and the wider Trust.
