This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Youth Offending Team.

An opportunity has arisen in the Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly Youth Offending Service for an experienced and suitably qualified Key Worker. The post will initially sit within the Prevention Team but can be moved across the three teams in response to demand. The successful candidate will be based at our offices at Woodfieldside Business Park, Pontllanfraith. The post holder will work across both county boroughs and will need to be a car owner/driver.

The primary task is to manage a caseload and deliver interventions to address the needs of children between 8 – 17 years of age on the cusp of offending/anti-social behaviour. The ability to make assessments of risk factors associated with offending and develop bespoke, individual support plans to set timescales is essential. The overall aim is to prevent offending and anti-social behaviour.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to fill this permanent post to support the overall aim of the YOS in reducing offending by children. Therefore, you will need to demonstrate a proven ability to engage children and make a positive impact with the work you will be delivering as part of our multi agency Youth Offending Service. In achieving these aims, you will work closely with families and/or carers to address the factors leading to offending.

You will be required to contribute to accurate and timely electronic records in accordance with the Youth Justice Board’s National Standards. Therefore, IT skills are essential for this role, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Does this sound like the right job for you? If so we will provide you with the following:-

Comprehensive induction.
Training to promote your continued professional development.
An embedded risk assessment model.
Evidenced based and timely decision making.
Regular supervision, annual appraisal and opportunities for reflective practice.
