Summary


This is an exciting opportunity to join the Antenatal and Newborn Screening team at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. We strive to deliver high quality care to our women and their families. As the Antenatal Screening Support Clerk, you would be supporting the team with the collation and entry of data for the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programmes (infectious diseases in pregnancy, Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia screening, Fetal Anomaly Screening, Newborn Infant Physical Examination and Newborn Bloodspot Screening Programme).

The Antenatal Screening Support Clerk will identify screening coverage to the eligible population and ensure safety of the screening programme, by facilitating failsafe mechanisms to identify and prevent missed screening opportunities.

You will support with the collection of data for the quarterly screening Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), annual reports, the Health Protection Agency and any other screening data requests. You will ensure that all investigations, results and appointments are recorded and tracked.

Please be advised that there is 0.4 WTE (15 Hours per week) as a permanent post, and 1.00 WTE (37.5 hours per week) as a 12 month fixed term post available.

On a daily basis you will access the National failsafe for the NIPE examination and Newborn Blood Spot Screening, to ensure that all babies have their screening in accordance with KPI’s. The Antenatal Screening Support Clerk will also be expected to maintain and evolve mechanisms to collect and input data for cohort tracking on our many databases, as well as inputting outcomes from screening tests. The Antenatal Screening Support Clerk will be expected to communicate with other professionals involved in the screening process, to participate in the organisation and the of taking minutes for the meetings. The Antenatal Screening Support Clerk will also provide general clerical duties to support the Screening Team. Full on the job training will be given.

Main duties
• Support the screening Co-Ordinator /Screening Midwives to develop, maintain and monitor screening database systems to support the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programme.
• Escalate any missed screening to the Screening Co-Ordinator/Midwives as priority.
• Ensure that all antenatal screening data is compliant with the National Key Performance Indicators.
• Assist in the collation of information/data collection as required.
• Chase up missing information by liaising with clinical staff, laboratories and service users.

• Access the National Failsafe for the NIPE examination (S4N failsafe system) to ensure the compliance with the NIPE pathway is maintained.
• Access the National failsafe for the Newborn Bloodspot Screening to ensure all babies have had Screening undertaken. This includes tracking/transferring babies and liaising with Newborn Screening/ Child Health.
• Undertake general clerical duties, such as photocopying and sending letters to support the screening team.
• Undertake annual appraisal with line manager.
• Provide administrative support for internal and external screening meetings.
