We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) to join a vibrant mainstream secondary school in Harlow, Essex, on a permanent basis.

Job Description: As a SENDCo, you will play a crucial role in promoting inclusive education and ensuring that students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement personalized learning plans for students with SEND, ensuring that their individual needs are met effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the identification, assessment, and provision of support for students with SEND within the school.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with parents/carers to ensure effective communication and collaboration in supporting students with SEND.
• Provide guidance and support to teachers and support staff in implementing strategies and interventions to meet the diverse needs of students with SEND.
• Lead and coordinate the provision of appropriate resources and assistive technology to support students with SEND in accessing the curriculum.
• Keep abreast of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in SEND education and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Liaise with external agencies, including local authorities and healthcare professionals, to access additional support and services for students with SEND.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of whole-school policies and practices to promote inclusion and diversity.

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant SEND qualifications or experience.
• Proven experience working with students with SEND in a mainstream educational setting.
• Strong understanding of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lead and inspire others in promoting inclusive education.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
