The SMB Group is a highly successful FE college, formed through the merger of Stephenson College and Brooksby Melton College. We are an innovative and highly responsive centre for education and training with campuses in Coalville, Melton Mowbray and Brooksby.

We are looking for a highly skilled Fork Lift Truck technician to support our teaching staff in the workshop, training our apprentices. The provision is new therefore the opportunity to help develop this provision is an exciting opportunity for the right person. Additional duties will include overseeing the effective running of the workshop(s), ensuring the resources required are fit for purpose and sufficient, and working with our end point assessment coordinators to effectively plan assessments, prepare vehicles (Including workshop vehicles) to be used by apprentices for assessment and supporting the awarding body in the assessment process (this is a new opportunity). You will have the required skills to support the teaching staff and students in the workshop and in some cases lead on demonstrating workshop related tasks.

We would like to invite interested parties with knowledge and the transferable skills in maintenance and repair in areas such as Fork Lift Truck, heavy good vehicles, land-based engineering, light vehicle, electric vehicle, alternative powered vehicles etc. to apply. You may currently be working in an automotive garage setting or even research and development looking for your first job in teaching. You will need a passion for innovation, confident in bringing new ideas to the SMB group and the enthusiasm in embedding new technologies into the learning environment.

Working as part of the automotive team you will be responsible for the delivery and development of courses. You will possess an excellent knowledge and understanding of an element in the automotive sector and be able to plan and use a range of effective and appropriate teaching and learning techniques.

As well as your relevant experience and current knowledge, you will also be willing to obtain a relevant level 3 teaching qualification if you do not already possess one, as well as qualifications required to support this role.
