Summary

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to make an impactful difference to our controls and compliance culture and environment. Reporting to our Head of Financial Control and Compliance you’ll help drive a culture of continuous improvement, risk management, best practice and good governance.

The postholder needs to have an excellent practical understanding of what a strong control environment can look like, how to embed this within an organisation, and be able to drive forward best practice. You’ll be passionate about quality, and able to interrogate complex data in a c.£900m business, giving you valuable exposure to the breadth of the University’s financial operations.

It will be necessary to collaborate with colleagues across the department, the University and with external stakeholders such as auditors. First rate communication and influencing skills are therefore essential. You will be responsible for delivering a programme of in house compliance reviews, complementing work undertaken by the outsourced internal audit and external audit.

About You

You will be a professionally qualified accountant (CCAB) or internal auditor (IIA) with experience of working as a risk, assurance or other audit professional.

You will have proven technical skills in assurance, experience of managing data driven audits and have experience of financial controls, compliance and assurance. You will have experience of working within a complex and challenging operating environment in a large organisation.

You will be able to communicate with impact and gravitas and have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain technical financial concepts to a non-technical audience. You will be proactive with first class interpersonal skills.
