Summary

Hours: 40 hours per week - Term Time only - Monday - Friday - 8.30am - 4.30pm (5pm on Thursday, extra half hour taken off on another day)

Contract: Fixed Term Contract Maternity Cover

School:
- Provides day placements for students aged 11 to 16 years, primarily with communication and interaction difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Some may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning.
- A maximum of 10 students and a minimum of 3 staff per class you can focus on the needs of each student.
- There is a full clinical team onsite to support at all times and you will have the support of an experienced and stable SLT.

Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school's policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
- Support the day to day running of classes across the school and take the lead in the absence of a class teacher.
- Select and adapt appropriate resources/methods to facilitate agreed learning activities
- Reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
- Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment
- Participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
- Be a role model for new staff and supervise and guide less experienced TAs.
- Further professional development by engaging in reflective practices and continuous professional development and appraisal, including attending all statutory training provided by the school.
- Contribute to the community life of the school by taking an active part in the preparation and celebration of both community and multi-cultural events.
- Respond to the varying and changing needs of the school and undertake duties and tasks to the highest ability in order to achieve the smooth running of the school.

Requirements:
- The Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification, or demonstrate equivalent skill level.
- GCSE pass above C (or 4 in the new GCSE system) in English and Maths
- Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN, SLD/PMLD, ADHD and ASD
- Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
- Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
- Experience working within education is advantageous
- Experience of working within a multi-cultural, inclusive setting
- Due to the rural location of the school, candidates are strongly advised to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.
