Summary

Focus Birmingham is a leading charity in Birmingham and we are seeking a Driver to join the Transport department.

Permanent Contract
Shifts will total 4 hours a day, Monday to Friday. 7.00am- 5.30pm

We are looking for a friendly driver who will have a desire to deliver an excellent customer service to all of our service users. This role is to transport adult with complex needs to and from our day centre so the shifts reflect the timings of a school run. You will need to be safety focused as caring for the service users is paramount. You will need to be friendly and helpful as you will working with others in the team to deliver this service and it is important that everyone you deal with feels comfortable and reassured. This is a Safeguarding position, you will be working with vulnerable adults and an enhanced DBS will be required.

Service Delivery:
Maintain a professional “front of house” manner at all times.

Transport Service users safely from and to their homes to a scheduled timetable.

Ensure that the vehicle is clean, tidy and safe to drive by carrying out routine vehicle checks reporting any defects to the fleet Co-Ordinator.

Ensure that First Aid boxes, PPE boxes, infection control boxes, rescue medication and fire safety equipment is safe during transport and any defects/restocking required to be communicated to the Fleet Co-Ordinator on a weekly basis.

Ensure that daily, weekly and monthly checks are actioned in a timely manner and communicated via documentation to the Fleet Co-Ordinator.

Liaise with Staff and Relatives to ensure key information relating to Service User is exchanged

Assist the Service Users, entering and exiting the vehicle including wheelchairs via the accessible lift whilst ensuring the clients safety and comfort at all times.

Undertake all training considered necessary for the post including E-Learning mandatory training and adherence with all Focus Birmingham’s policies and procedures.

Essential:
A full current driving license (the license holder should have no more than 6 points on their license).

Driver must have at least a D1 entitlement on their driving license or a PCV license if they have passed their test after January 1997.

Good driving standards, previous mini bus experience would be an advantage.

Friendly, approachable attitude, understanding of needs of adults who have a disability.

Desirable:
MIDAS driver accreditation.
Advanced driving training (ROSPA/IAM).
ROSPA defensive driving training.
Minibus tail lift use & clamping experience

Experience of working with various with people who have Visual Impairment and other complex needs.
