Summary
What is the role
Working within an onsite, in-house, commercial finance team, delivering consistent quality business information to a rapidly growing multi-channel, multi brand retail business. This requires close working relationships with key stakeholders and supervision of a small team, ensuring that they are effectively trained and performing within a fast-paced environment.
What you will do
Responsible for the maintenance of the monthly balance sheet control accounts along with branch account reporting and processing
Assist with the preparation of statutory financial statements and annual audit requirements, liaising with auditors when required.
Review and control purchase ledger accuracy and completeness.
Overall responsibility of stock management from a financial perspective. Processing, reviewing and reporting on stock intake, despatch, invoicing and movements. Including the following:
Identifying, establishing and implementing inventory policies and procedures.
Assisting with regular stock checks and investigating variances to report to management.
Coordinating with the production and supply chain teams to ensure that records relating to inventory in the system are properly maintained.
Coordinating with other accounting team members to ensure that all product costs are properly taken in the cost of sales and inventory costs.
Communicating with warehouse, department managers and purchasing department on inventory levels and locations.
Supervision of staff and ensuring that goods received by warehouse are appropriately matched to purchase invoices and costs are correctly recorded.
Regular stock and margin reconciliation with investigation and reporting on key variances.
Compliance reporting
Assisting Financial Controller with system development and ad-hoc relevant projects
Working with the wider finance team, supporting other functions as and when required
What you will bring
Qualified (or nearly qualified) professional accountant
Experience of staff management
Operationally oriented and comfortable working in a retail environment; experience with multi-site operations would be ideal.
Have a detailed understanding of systems and inventory control systems, with a working knowledge of inventory processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Competent in Microsoft Excel and comfortable with leaning new software systems/packages. Experience of Access Accounting would be advantageous.
Fluent in English.
Mature, self-motivated, proactive, willing to learn and able to work under pressure.
Experience of large company reporting requirements would be beneficial.
