About the team?

There is a vacancy in the LTV Plant team, which is made up of multi skilled individuals that maintain the Depot's at Reading, and the LTV outstations (Oxford, West Ealing, Cocklebury). This is a varied role with responsibilities for maintaining a wide range of assets at these locations to the required standards. There is also a requirement to supervise contractors working on the GWR sites.

The Plant team supports Reading Depot and outstation locations (named above), that operate 24 hours. There is an on-call roster and as such an expectation to live close to the depot to support this in a timely manner when required.

As the infrastructure modernises, we are looking for an individual who has building facility, plant fitting and electrical skills, but also has an understanding of building management systems.

About the job?

Delivery of routine preventative maintenance tasks on a variety of assets across the sites, also fault finding of the building and yard systems.

This role would suit an individual who fault finds and problem solves in a proactive manner.

Your main responsibilities will be:

-Delivery of planned preventative maintenance

-Fault finding of the depot systems

-Ensuring contractors are working safely

-Use of asset management systems.

-Work safely within railway environment

You'll need to be:

-Dedicated to working in a safe and efficient way

-Experience of working in a facilities maintenance role or other service critical environment.

-Able to follow schematics and fault find on electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.

-Flexible and comfortable working in a team and alone.

-Confident using information technology.

-A good communicator, responsive to the depot team's needs.

As a minimum you'll need to have:

-NVQ Level 3 (or higher) Engineering qualification

-Hold a BS 7671 - 18th Edition Electrical Certificate

-Demonstratable knowledge of Health & Safety requirements (IOSH)

Additional Advantageous Qualifications

-C&G 2391 - 52 Electrical Periodic Inspection & Testing would be advantages.

-Working knowledge of building facility & plant maintenance

-Apprenticeship in mechanical / electrical biased discipline.

About the location?

Reading Train Care Depot is a large varied site with good transport links. The outstations are accessible by rail and road.

Working Pattern?

There is a day shift pattern, Monday to Friday 35 hours per week with on call requirements.

Additional Information?

The successful candidate must live within a one-hour commute of the depot.
