Summary


We are an innovative and expanding Theatre Service across a wide geographic area, at the forefront of patient care, with a well-established enhanced recovery programme. UHDB (University Hospitals of Derby and Burton ) theatres currently covers, an operational area of 36 Theatres across the Royal Derby Hospital site, 15 Theatres at the Queens Hospital site, 1 Theatre at Sir Robert Peel, and 2 Theatres at the Ilkeston site.

We are continually growing and on the lookout for enthusiastic individuals passionate about delivering safe effective care across all sites.

Within QHB theatres we have an opportunity for a Senior Theatre Practitioner role within the following speciality areas :

Anaesthetic Support

Ophthalmology

Recovery

Urology

Full time and part time hours are available. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Main Duties
• Deliver safe quality care for patients during their peri-operative phase of care.
• To support, coordinate and actively assist in the management and organisation of care within the operating department.
• To actively lead daily theatre teams
• To provide senior support and guidance for theatre teams and to work with their line managers for patient safety.
• To provide scrub and or anaesthetic support within the theatre setting
• Provide quality planned care for patients during their peri-operative phase of care by ensuring all team members deliver quality patient care by providing appropriate clinical and managerial leadership.
• Lead in the delivery of patient care, during a list or specified period of time.
• Ensure that patient safety checks are carried out in accordance with the policy and that all practitioners adhere to the policy.
• Contribute to quality improvement.
• Develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self.
• Promote best evidence based practice within own scope of practice.
• To ensure a dual role for recovery and anaesthetic posts
• Apply legislation, policies and procedures correctly.
• Achieve agreed objectives and demonstrating Trust behaviours at all times.
