Summary

Key responsibilities Lead the ongoing design, development and implementation of the Trusts improvement framework ensuring the infrastructure, resources and processes to support workstreams within the system including: leading for improvement; strategy deployment; daily continuous Improvement; step change / rapid improvement of Trust priorities; building capacity and capability for operational excellence and improvement Lead on the establishment and on-going management of the Improvement Team, including the recruitment and development of the team to create an expert central resource for the organisation Act as a role model, providing coaching and facilitation to senior leaders, staff and patient groups, and the Trust Leadership Team to build the leadership management and improvement skills, knowledge and understanding Support Executive Leaders to align corporate portfolios, governance arrangements and support teams to the operating model To provide clear professional and managerial leadership to the team, creating a team that is highly skilled, effective, engaged and highly motivated Production of regular progress reports and support to problem solve a range of programme barriers. Communication / relationships To use highly developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams across the Trust, such that they understand and work to achieve the Trust Strategy in line with the values and behaviours To use highly developed intellectual skills to see things differently, look beyond existing structures, ways of working, boundaries and organisations to produce more effective and innovative performance delivery aligned to operational excellence. To use political judgement and astuteness in understanding and working with complex policy, and diverse interest groups To demonstrate an ability to work with complex and ambiguous structures Responsible for managing the communications within and engagement of stakeholders (internal/external) through the life cycle of the various improvement programmes and projects and responsible for reporting progress to the Executive sponsors. Work in partnership with leads for Patient Engagement and Experience and patient and service user groups to actively promote the inclusion of patients and families in all elements of improvement and service redesign Provide strategic leadership for the development of the MYTT Improvement Community, linking with local, national and international partners where appropriate to ensure best practice in improvement and operational excellence is brought into and shared with the organisation.Performance and improvement Apply robust programme management methods to support the implementation of the MYTT improvement approach across the Trust, including: programme plans; key performance measures; visual improvement and delivery boards; reporting mechanisms Provide strong and robust leadership to a range of improvement projects and programmes supported by the Improvement team, which are likely to be high profile with significant potential strategic, financial and reputational impact. Ensure excellent links between the Improvement team and corporate and clinical functions. Represent the Trust with partner organisations, within the ICS and work closely with them to institute integrated working in the best interests of patient care. Developing strong working relationships with stakeholders across Wakefield, Kirklees and beyond, engaging them in the design and delivery of the projects contained within the Trust strategic priorities. Ensure delivery of benefits Ensure all improvement plans are realistic, responsibilities for implementation / delivery are owned and the schedule of benefits delivery / release is congruent with overall financial and budgeting approach. Support and challenge Clinical Divisions to deliver and realise the benefits agreed from project and programme implementation and ensure these benefits are sustainable. Report on benefits realisation to key governance groups including the resources committee and Executive Directors meetings. Monitor and report on programme delivery with a particular emphasis focus on benefits realisation against agreed improvement metricsPrioritise and coordinate programmes across Clinical Divisions Work with the Executive Team as well as the Divisions to agree priorities for improvement projects Ensure effective integration between projects impacting on the Divisions. Build an effective cross-Division network to ensure sharing of best practice in terms of day to day work within Divisions, implementation of change, realisation of benefits. Champion and support the embedding of the Mid Yorkshire Quality Improvement System (MYQIS) Provide support and leadership to the Mid Yorkshire Quality Improvement System (MYQIS). Suggest further transformation based on best practice Recommend Transformation and Improvement projects for implementation across the organisation Prioritise future opportunities for improvement Represent the Trust with partner organisations, within the ICS and work closely with them to institute integrated working in the best interests of patient care. Workforce Manage and lead the teams effectively, complying with all Trust policies and procedures. Act as an ambassador for the Trust in professional and public settings, with patients, relatives, visitors and staff. Promote sharing and dissemination of knowledge and innovative practice. Maintain own professional development and support others in the team. Organise and present transformation events/learning workshops in order to share improvement across the local health economy as well as to Trust staff. The post holder will participate in the Senior Manager on call/Executive On call rota supporting the senior managers in delivering effective services out of hours and assuming overall operational management responsibility as part of major incident escalation.
