Summary

Trainee Independent Prescriber

About the role

We are currently looking to expand our team with a Trainee Independent Prescriber. The post holder will work as part of an integrated treatment recovery system across the County of Cumbria to provide health interventions including service user assessment, BBV screening and immunisation, detoxification (including prescribing) and on-going contribution to recovery planning.

The post will be predominantly based in Carlisle but there may be times in which travel across the county is required to support the needs of the service.

No two days will be the same as you will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment where you will be exposed to various specialist services such as alcohol detox, recovery services, criminal justice, hospital outreach, in-reach, hepatology, blood borne virus treatment, inclusion health, specialist midwifery, psychology, substance use psychiatry. You will work in a supportive and innovative team where we will work with you to plan your career, identifying your areas of interest, moulding your position accordingly to your aspirations.

About you
A first level Registered Nurse
Independent Prescriber qualified, however, if you are not in possession of your NMP qualification or very early in your qualification, we have a preceptorship system to support you
RCGP qualifications Level 1 (and 2 or willingness to work towards)
Experienced in delivering evidence-based treatments in Substance Misuse
Aware of social context of drug misuse and the wider implications of the behaviour
