Summary

Job Description

To provide additional support for allotments to address waiting lists and support community empowerment requirements.

Duties will include promoting, developing and expanding allotments and growing spaces available within the city through education, developing new resources and innovation.

You will engage and support participants in community growing projects to establish community associations to manage their growing sites and engage with partners to improve the quality of greenspace. You will also provide an efficient and effective support to Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability, other Council Services and members of the public in relation to food growing matters.

In addition, you will prepare reports/presentations on allotment and food growing; prepare, monitor and review the allotment and food growing development programme to ensure its implementation and outcomes.

You must have a minimum of an HNC or equivalent level qualification in a subject related to Greenspace, Environment or Sustainability or a related field. You must also have previous relevant experience of contracts, project management, partnership working and grant funding applications within the greenspace sector together with good organisational and project management skills and the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders.

Good IT and presentation skills and the ability to work flexibly under time/project pressures are essential as is knowledge of a range of community engagement principles and techniques and the ability to work pro-actively with limited supervision.

A current driving licence is desirable.
