Summary

Join us as a Data Engineer

What you'll do:

As a Data Engineer, you’ll be supporting colleagues to drive customer value by understanding business problems and requirements to correctly apply the most appropriate and reusable tool to gather and build data solutions and automating data engineering pipelines through the removal of manual stages.

This is a collaborative role where you’ll be carrying out data engineering tasks to build, maintain, test and optimise scalable data architecture along with data extractions. You'll transform and upload data into platforms to make it usable for data analysts and data scientists.

Additionally, you’ll be:

  • Developing comprehensive knowledge of the bank’s data structures and metrics, advocating for changes

  • Practicing DevOps adoption in the delivery of data engineering, proactively performing root cause analysis and resolving issues·

  • Developing a clear understanding of data platform cost levers to build cost effective and strategic solutions

  • Building in a software engineering and data operations mindset ensuring greater product development maturity while building robust, sustainable and fault tolerant data products

  • Sourcing new data using the most appropriate tooling for the situation and integrating it into the overall solution to deliver for our customers

  • Embedding data quality into data solutions by testing against relevant measures for business requirements, user stories and data quality measures·

The skills you'll need:

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be Quantexa Data Engineering certified and have a good understanding of data usage and dependencies with wider teams and the end customer. You’ll also need experience of extracting value and features from large scale data.

We’ll also expect you to have experience of ETL technical design, data quality testing, cleansing and monitoring, data sourcing, exploration and analysis and data warehousing and data modelling capabilities

In addition, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Experience using languages alongside knowledge of data and software engineering fundamentals programming

  • A foundational knowledge of pipeline design and builds

  • Knowledge of modern code development practices

  • Good communication skills with the ability to proactively engage with a wide range of stakeholders
