Love your job but want your freedom? Take advantage of flexible working We have an incredible opportunity for an Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse to work in South West Cornwall for short and long term placements as well as ad-hoc shifts in a variety of NHS Hospitals and Private Organisations.
As an Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse working in South West Cornwall alongside Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Theatre Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), Theatre Support Workers and Porters to provide skilled care and support throughout a patient's perioperative care.
You will be joining a friendly team of healthcare staff who are passionate about what they do and the services they provide to both patients and visitors.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
As a Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse you will:
- Monitor and maintain a safe and sterile environment for the patient throughout the surgical procedure.
- To safely identify, prepare, check and assemble equipment required for the relevant operating list
- Prepare and organise the clinical area to receive patients for elective, emergency, and trauma procedures.
- Coordinate and maintain adequate stock levels of drugs, stores and implants liaising with the Theatre Manager and / Procurement.
- Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information using various methods to ensure effective understanding.
- Demonstrate and develop clinical assessment skills and prioritise the care for patients undergoing a surgical / anaesthetic procedure.
- Contribute to the continuing development of patient care within the operating theatres, e.g. through sharing knowledge and expertise as required.

Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications
As an Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse it is essential that you hold:
- Current NMC/HCPC registration
- At least 1 years' post-graduate experience.
- 6 months recent UK experience within the last 3 years.
