Summary
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior registrar to develop a portfolio for leadership and management skills working towards a consultant role on a CCT or CESR pathway. The successful candidate will take part in an emergency on-call rota and routine elective work in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This will include Caesarean Section lists, administrative and educational tasks and general and specialist outpatient clinics. On call frequency is 1:8. The post will be based at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital with an understanding the post holder may also be required to work at different sites, dependent on the needs of the service. It would be beneficial that you would be able to drive and have own means of transport. The post holder will be expected to: *Work with a named consultant, who will act as a mentor and will be available to perform appraisals, provide support and advice. *Attend weekly meeting to discuss CTG's and interesting cases for learning. *Attend monthly audit meetings and trainees are encouraged to undertake audit projects. *Attend the monthly mortality, morbidity, audit and governance meetings. *Attend Postgraduate Education meetings. *Be actively involved on quality improvement, research and teaching projects to enhance surgical portfolio. *Be able to liaise with Consultants, other junior doctors, Nurses, Midwives, patient, relatives, administrative staff and other senior medical staff *Be able to eventually supervise/ support more junior members of the team.
