PLEASE SEE FULL JOB DESCRIPTION ATTACHED Post Title:Orthodontic Technician (Specialist Dental Technician) Pay Band:Band 6 Hours:Full time Contract:Permanent Location / Department:The Maxillofacial and Dental Laboratory, Worcestershire Royal Hospital Accountable to:Consultant Maxillofacial Prosthetist / Service Lead Reports to:Consultant Maxillofacial Prosthetist / Service Lead Ref: C9365-24-0503 Key Working Relationships: Consultant Reconstructive Scientist / Maxillofacial Prosthetist (Service Lead) Principal Reconstructive Scientist / Maxillofacial Prosthetist (Deputy Manager) Advanced Orthodontic Technicians Consultant Orthodontists and their medical teams Oral and Maxillofacial Consultants and their medical teams Departmental nursing staff Departmental administrative and clerical staff Risk Assessment: This post involves exposure to bodily fluids, exposure to fumes from materials and substances, exposure to chemicals, prolonged use of equipment/machinery, manual handling activities and some VDU work. Job Purpose: The post holders prime responsibility will be the provision of orthodontic appliances and associated dental technology services for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics, and other contracted agencies, for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The post holder will be expected to manufacture and maintain a broad range of complex custom made medical devices; to include specialised orthodontic functional, fixed and removable appliances and same day retainers. The post holder should be highly motivated with good communication skills to liaise with clinical and laboratory staff in the design and manufacture of appliances and maintain laboratory records complying with the latest Medical Devices Regulations. The post holder should be able to plan and prioritise their own work. Key Duties: To work as part of a team across both Worcestershire hospital and Kidderminster sites, which will require a flexible approach to working. To provide laboratory support to Orthodontic Consultants, Specialist Registrars, Oral and Maxillofacial Consultants, Registrars, supporting Nursing staff and associated team of clinical assistants.
