Summary
The post will form part of our general surgical team providing excellent surgical care for our patients, with the opportunity to design and develop within your own specialty interest as part of your appointment process. Opportunities for development currently include: Emergency General Surgery Paediatric surgery-common surgical conditions Endoscopy Complex abdominal wall hernia reconstruction Surgical SDEC service development Division of Surgery are keen to consider other interests where these can fit with our overall strategy and objectives. This is your career and we want to work with you in developing your future. This post is offered on a full time (10 PA) basis for a 12 month fixed period on a Locum contract, although less than full time applications will be considered. Duties will be based primarily on our Wakefield (Pinderfields) site although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care on all our sites. The main duties of the post will include: To provide a clinical service of the highest quality to general surgical patients To participate in acute care including sharing leadership and oversight of the Acute Surgical Assessment Unit To work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a cohesive team To drive the services Excellence in Teaching agenda, as a leader and role model to junior members of staff With recruitment to these posts the acute rota will become shared amongst 16 colleagues and attract 4.75Pas. There are plans to further expand our consultant workforce in the future and thereby bringing down the emergency work commitments and increasing the potential for delivering more elective activities.
