About the Role


We are looking for skilled officers who are competent, enthusiastic and highly motivated to fill the below posts within our Environmental Health Teams.



Two Senior Environmental Health (EH) Technical Officer/Environmental Health Officer within the Property Licensing and Private Sector Housing Standards Team (000590)


Property Licensing and Private Sector Housing Standards Roles



We now have an opportunity for an individual to join the Property Licensing and Private Sector Housing Standards Team.



The main work will involve investigating and inspecting of private sector housing, this will include houses in multiple occupation. This may involve taking enforcement action and, preparing cases for enforcement action and instigating legal proceedings. The work may also involve identifying unlicensed houses in multiple occupation (HMO). The council will shortly be consulting on a new selective licensing scheme.



You will also provide technical evidence in court proceedings, tribunals and Public Inquiries.



You will need to have a relevant degree or an equivalent level of experience in Property Licensing and Housing. Knowledge of major legislative, social and economic issues is key. Experience of communicating to a variety of audiences in an array of methods such as; writing complex correspondence, delivering presentations and handling complaints is also required.

Candidate Profile

You will hold a degree or a diploma in Environmental Health or a related subject or have significant experience in environmental health food and safety regulation and be able to meet the competencies for authorised Lead Food Officers in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice.
