Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an energetic and highly motivated Tissue Viability Clinical Nurse Specialist, to work as part of the acute team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

The successful applicant will provide clinical leadership in all aspects of tissue viability ensuring dissemination of good evidence-based practice to professional staff providing both direct and indirect patient care.

To operationally lead the acute tissue viability service at RCHT, providing expert tissue viability clinical practice to patients within the trust. Ensuring seamless service delivery through excellent leadership and management skills, acting as a line manager for the team with the support and direction of the Consultant Nurse for tissue viability.

Acts as an expert within pressure ulcer harms reduction, supporting the trusts wider action plan liaising closely with governance and clinical ward staff to support the safety culture of the trust.

Leads best practice wound care for the trust, through education, pathways and procedures with the latest evidenced based research. Undertakes quality improvement initiatives where required to strive for continuous excellence of the tissue viability service and clinical wound care and pressure ulcer prevention practice within the trust.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a high level of clinical expertise, skills and knowledge, professional leadership and operational day to day management of the Tissue Viability service. They will be expected to work as an autonomous practitioner utilising advanced clinical skills and knowledge acting as a role model in practice.

The post holder will initially be based in the specialty of Tissue Viability within the Corporate Care group

The post holder will be a highly experienced nurse who uses specialist knowledge and skills to support the care of patients with complex wounds.

The post holder will apply higher level skills and knowledge to be able to take a relevant patient, wound / skin history and perform a clinical assessment in order to develop an effective management plan. This will include the assessment of complex wounds which will require current; evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in order to ensure safe effective quality patient care. They will be required to evaluate the progress of that plan in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team. They will demonstrate clinical judgement and critical decision-making skills based upon established guidelines.
