Summary

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Senior Pharmacist for Clinical Commissioning Support (fixed-term maternity cover).

Working closely with our Trust's lead Clinical Commissioning Pharmacist, this role will support the delivery of the core aspects of the Clinical Commissioning Pharmacist's responsibilities, with a main focus upon the services provided on the Guy's and St Thomas's sites.

The role will ensure that we are providing the most cost effective care to our patients through the appropriate implementations of recommendations made by NICE, NHS England and other advisory bodies. It will ensure that NHS funds to support the provision of medicines, specifically high cost and PBR-excluded drugs, are being used responsibly and to support the provision of services as described by local and national commissioners.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with various teams across GSTT, (internal and external to Pharmacy) and teams across the SEL ICB. The role will be full of personal and professional development opportunities, including financial management, project management and service development.

If you are enthusiastic, have excellent attention to detail and enjoy collaborative working, this role is for you!

The main focus of this role is to support delivery of the work plan associated with the role of the Clinical Commissioning Pharmacist.

The role will focus specifically upon the work undertaken at the Guy’s and St Thomas’s site but will support the wider work associated with Clinical Commissioning pathways across the entire GSTT organisation.

The role will act as a deputy for the Lead Pharmacist for Clinical Commissioning and represent the Trust at NHS England / Regional meetings.

The role will be responsible for
• Supporting the oversight and implementation of appropriate governance and financial pathways linked to the use of high cost medicines in specialist service
• Working with the wider clinical team to ensure the implementation of NICE Technology Appraisals in line with national guidance
• Work across the South East London (SEL) Integrated Care Board (ICB) to implement innovative projects (such as QIPP) that will optimise the use of medicines on a large scale and ensure patients are able to access the most effective treatments in an effective manner
• Management of the Trust’s IVIg use

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust comprises five of the UK’s best known hospitals – Guy’s, St Thomas’, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Royal Brompton and Harefield – as well as community services in Lambeth and Southwark, all with a long history of high quality care, clinical excellence, research and innovation.

We are among the UK’s busiest, most successful foundation trusts. We provide specialist care for patients including heart and lung, cancer and renal services as well as a full range of local hospital and community services for people in Lambeth and Southwark.

We have a long tradition of clinical and scientific achievement and – as part of King’s Health Partners – we are one of England’s eight academic health sciences centres, bringing together world-class clinical services, teaching and research. We have one of the National Institute for Health Research’s biomedical research centres, established with King’s College London in 2007, as well as dedicated clinical research facilities.

We have over 25,300 staff, making us one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country and one of the biggest employers locally. We aim to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and continue to develop new and existing partnerships with local people, patients, and neighbouring NHS organisations, local authorities and charitable bodies and GPs.
