The post is in the Civil Engineering Standards team at the heart of Asset Management Engineering department in the FCRM directorate, working collaboratively across the Environment Agency ensuring we have the right civil engineering standards and guidance. You will be an important part of the team by using your experience and skills to identify, develop and roll out best practice. You will be involved with several important civil engineering work strands including:

• Providing technical leadership of civil engineering across FCRM & E&B.
• Develop, own and maintain all civil engineering standards and rules, reviewing departures and supporting assurance.
• Shaping our interpretation of external civil engineering standards.
• Collaborating with national and international partners to share good practice and identify improvements.
• Leading on identifying, promoting and embedding asset management R&D.
• Particular work areas we would be keen to see people with an interest in: Coastal or Natural Flood Management assets, data skills.

We help our areas deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable assets for climate resilient future by providing expertise and standards in all aspects of technical engineering and asset management. We have broad engagement internally and externally to learn and deliver best practise. We seek the best outcomes in everything we do.

Through your experience you will be able to demonstrate:
• Alongside a degree in a civil engineering, you will have experience in manging projects and people.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with significant experience approaching chartered status. Your current level of qualification and awarding body must be stated on your application.
• Able to write clear briefings and reports explaining technical information.
• Strong communicator and self-starter who can lead others, work under your own initiative and can deliver work to agreed timescales and budgets.
• Good at influencing others and you will hold an excellent record of delivering engineering excellence.
