Summary

We have embarked on an extraordinary journey to create a new museum for London. It will sit in atmospheric former market buildings, at the heart of one of the capital’s most historic and creative quarters, Smithfield. The New Museum project is one of the largest cultural projects in Europe and will transform the museum, Smithfield and the City of London.

A major workstream within the project is the relocation of the London Collection from our current site in London Wall to the new London Museum and other storage locations. To lead this work we have created a new role within the project team – Collections Move Lead.

The London Collection is recognised as being of national importance. It is the world’s largest collection relating to a single urban centre and is one of the most significant collections of any capital city worldwide. The successful delivery of this workstream will unlock our ambitious longer term integrated collections plan and as such is an incredibly exciting opportunity for an individual to play a role in the future of the London Collection.

We are looking for an experienced individual who loves the challenge of complex collections-based projects and enjoys collaborating with teams across disciplines.
