Summary

Introduction Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to announce the development and introduction of these new roles. This role offers the opportunity to join Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust as a Trust Registrar for 12 months. The posts will be a combination of service delivery and educational input within the specialty. These posts are not recognised UK training posts. However, the post-holders will have a named educational supervisor, and be supported in undertaking scheduled educational opportunities within the Trust and specialties. An Introduction to the Division / Specialty from Dr Nigel Artis - Divisional Clinical Director The Medical Division at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals provides acute care across the range of medical specialities in a large modern purpose-built hospital in Wakefield, which includes a large Acute Assessment Unit, Acute Elderly Assessment Unit, Coronary Care and Acute (Respiratory) Care Unit. We also provide care for Acute Elderly Admissions and step-down care for patients in a less acute phase of their admission at Dewsbury & District Hospital. Successful applicants will support speciality teams in Acute Care, Cardiology, Respiratory, Diabetes/Endocrine, Gastroenterology, Stroke & Elderly Medicine teams in the management of their in-patient & out-patient workload and will participate in out-of-hours cover across both hospital sites. The Service Role From a clinical perspective these posts will participate in the cross site senior trainee rota. The senior trainee rota is compliant with the 2016 junior doctor contract averaging 48 hours per week. The illustrative rota pattern is attached to this job description. Duties will be based primarily on our Pinderfields Hospital site although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites. The main duties of the post will include: Provision of care with responsibility for the management of patients with acute and chronic conditions including complex cases Referral of patients to other specialities as appropriate Out-patient activities/clinics Involvement in specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings Involvement in relevant administration duties Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate Active involvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvement activities The above list is not intended to be exhaustive and it is likely duties may be altered from time to time in the light of changing circumstances and after discussion with the post holder. The MYDoc Training Programme Educational Input & Recognition Doctors appointed to a MYDoc post will receive relevant educational input. Each doctor will be allocated an Educational Supervisor and will be required to develop a Personalised Work Schedule. The weekly timetable should include a balance of these activities appropriate to your grade, role and training requirements. You are required to maintain a dialogue with your Clinical and Educational Supervisor to ensure the balance of these activities meets your developmental needs. Whilst not a recognised training post Doctors successfully completing their training programme will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the Trust. Doctors will use established work-place based assessment (WPBA) tools to chart progress and keep relevant evidence in an electronic portfolio system. There will be an annual review of progress based on evidence within the portfolios including the WPBA, 360 assessment, personal reflections and CPD, covering both clinical, personal and professional development, and a Certificate of Achievement (appropriate to that year/level of training) will be issued. Terms & Conditions and Tenure Employment will be as a MYDoc Registrar on Trust Terms and Conditions of Service. Appointment as a MYDoc Registrar is intended to be for a maximum three-year period as part of an individual development programme for the Doctor. The initial tenure of post will be no less than 1 year with a strong potential to extend to a maximum of three years. The offer will be dependent on service requirements and confirmed at conditional offer stage. Pay Scale These roles are equivalent to a doctor on specialty training programmes and will be paid on the equivalent pay scale. The salary scale commences at £55,329 per annum.
