Summary
We operate two Amusement Arcades in Matlock Bath, one of which is open 10am-10pm 364 days a year, and the other is open every day from February half-term until the end of October.
As we are now at the beginning of our 'peak season' we are looking for part-time seasonal staff to work until at least the end of October (although it is quite possible that the role could become permanent). Mature candidates are most welcome.
It is anticipated that there will be at least 24 hours per week in this role, but more shifts/hours may be available over the school holiday periods and at other times (for example when other staff are on holiday). Our ideal candidate will be able to work 24-30 hours most weeks, but more (perhaps up to 42 hours per week) as and when needed. Please note: although we have set the minimum hours at 24, we may be prepared to consider candidates looking for fewer hours.
We are a long-established business with more than 50 years of operating in Matlock Bath and require someone who is capable of working within a small team and is flexible enough to work a variety of shifts of between 6hr and 12hrs, including day shifts, evenings and weekends until 10pm (and sometimes a little later). Shifts can be a mixture of 10am-4pm, 4-10pm+, 10am-10pm+ or 10am until 5/6pm+ including at the weekend. It is important that candidates can get to & from Matlock Bath in line with our opening & closing hours so please consider how you might get to and from the village in line with these shift times before you apply. Please note that we will not progress any applicants who are only looking for Monday to Friday and/or ‘daytime’ work only – weekends and evenings are an integral part of what we do.
This is a 'hands-on' role based on the shop floor and the successful candidate will be required to work on the arcade floor, in our cash desks and at our Aquarium as and when needed. We can be extremely busy (or extremely quiet) and need someone good with people, and happy to be on their feet & 'roll their sleeves up' to get the job done as part of a small team. The job itself is fairly straightforward and involves keeping the business clean and tidy, our machines well stocked, doing some basic admin and helping customers with any problems they might have. At our Aquarium, and in the cash desks you may be involved in handling cash, using a till and other miscellaneous tasks as required, and 'hands-on' training will be provided.
Please note that as a gambling business, the law says that we can only employ those aged eighteen and above, and we will only consider applications from candidates that we consider live within reasonable commuting distance of Matlock Bath.
