Summary


To lead the Clinical Governance agenda within the Clinical Imaging, Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Directorate. This covers those systems and processes for monitoring and improving services, clinical governance including risk management, clinical audit, clinical effectiveness programs, education, training, regulatory compliance, and accreditation.

Specifically the post holder will provide multidisciplinary clinical staff with the support to effectively implement the principles and practice of clinical governance across all its component parts in a clinical setting, within a framework which uses information to guide reflection, leading to action and outcomes monitoring.

Lead on the development and implementation of the directorate clinical governance programme aimed at improving the quality of clinical care.

Take lead responsibility for risk management across the Directorate.

Line management of the Directorate Governance Team

The Radiology Service is the largest of the three services within Clinical Imaging, Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering (CLIMP), with an establishment of approximately 580 WTE based at Guy’s Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital, Evelina Hospital, and Guy’s Cancer Centre. The service provides the full range of radiology modalities across the estate. The service is subdivided into Diagnostic Radiology, Paediatric Radiology and Interventional Radiology, with separate Clinical Service Leads for each area. It operates out of 7 fixed locations and, additionally, provides remote imaging support in theatres, wards and day surgery units. Diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Radiology support is provided 24 hours per day 365 days per year. The Service is one of the largest in the country and plays an active role in supporting both medical and allied health professionals’ training. The Interventional Radiology department, in particular, is recognised as a leading European centre, undertaking the broadest range of procedures. The department performs over 500,000 procedures for the Trust, Primary Care and other institutions per annum. We support a wide range of Clinical Specialists, as well as offering diagnostic guidance. The Department has an international reputation for innovation and early introduction of new technology and procedures.

Specifically the post holder will provide multidisciplinary clinical staff with the support to effectively implement the principles and practice of clinical governance across all its component parts in a clinical setting, within a framework which uses information to guide reflection, leading to action and outcomes monitoring.

The post holder will undertake these functions under the line management of the Head of Nursing, working in conjunction with the General Manager and Clinical Director.
