This vacancy is for a personal assistant to join our client’s support package to support them in their own home. We will be your legal employer on behalf of the client and you will not be asked to support other clients. All of our contracts are for permanent positions with a 6 month probationary period. The post is for 30-40hrs per week which will be daytime hours including some weekends.

About the Client and Support Needed:

Our client is a young 32yr old gentleman with a brain injury and multi-sensory impairment (MSI). You will join is support team to promote positive potential benefits for him, giving him the security he needs to access information, communicate and safely access his environment.

You will provide support to enable effective communication and the reception of clear information. Your support will enable our client to take full advantage of learning, vocational and social experiences/activities, thereby allowing fuller access and social interaction/outings in his community and the world.

You will liaise closely with the family and professionals involved in our clients day to day life and deliver a daily exercise regime based on his physiotherapy programme. The aim is to increase our clients' confidence, encourage friendships and ensure his days are full of gainful and exciting experiences.

You will encourage him to do things for himself such as food preparation and general day to day home based activities such as cleaning, washing clothes and planning his day. The emphasis of this role is to be a dependable, confident, fun and caring support worker to our client and will ensure that good communication is at the heart of everything.

A BSL qualification, experience in hand-under-hand signing and Makaton is desirable for this role but not essential.

You will be trained to CQC standards to meet the needs of the client. If you are 'already known to the client' and have care experience, this will be valued. Unless specified elsewhere, previous care experience is not essential.


Essential Requirements Identified for this Role:

- An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this vacancy (expense to be met by HomeCareDirect)

- It is essential that you have an understanding of the complexity and implications of multi-sensory impairment

- You will need to be a sensitive and effective communicator and it is desirable that you have a BSL qualification and experience of hand-under-hand signing and Makaton

- You will have good IT skills

- You must be a driver with a full, UK driving licence

- Prepared to commit to long term care for one client in a 'person-centred' way

- Willing to be trained to CQC standards to meet the client's needs
