Summary

This vacancy is for a support worker to join our client’s support package to support them in their own home. We will be your legal employer on behalf of the client and you will not be asked to support other clients. All of our contracts are for permanent positions with a 6 month probationary period.

Our client is deaf/blind who lives in her own home with family and requires support with everyday tasks. Although our client can navigate around her own familiar home and surroundings, she needs a guide when out in the community. She enjoys shopping and visiting coffee shops and joining in with different leisure activities.

This role is split into three parts as follows and can be offered to one person or job-shared between two people. The total hours for all roles is 28hrs a week.

Morning personal care assistant:

Assistance is required every weekday morning to assist with tasks such as choosing appropriate clothing, making breakfast and hot drinks and helping our client to keep up to date with important news. Our client does not need any assistance with personal care. The hours of work for this role is 7am to 9.30am, Monday to Friday - total 12.5hrs a week. Pay = £12:00 per hour

Cleaner:

You will be required to undertake general cleaning in our clients home to support her to be organised and tidy. The hours of work are flexible for this role and total 6hrs a week. Pay = £11.44 per hour

Communicator Guide:

You will facilitate all communication between others and our client both in her own home and in the community. Our client will communicate by sign language but as she is blind you will use touch signing to communicate with her. You will accompany her to medical appointments and when visiting coffee shops and shopping, ensuring she is safe around people, kerbs and traffic. This role will cover 9.5hrs per week on a flexible basis. Pay = £12:00 per hour

You will be trained to CQC standards to meet the needs of the client. If you are 'already known to the client' and have care experience, this will be valued. Unless specified elsewhere, previous care experience is not essential.

Essential Requirements Identified for this Role:

- An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this vacancy (expense to be met by HomeCareDirect)
- You must a minimum BSL (British Sign Language) Level 2 - working or prepared to work towards Level 3
- You must have an awareness of deaf/blindness
- You must have a full driving licence with Business insurance and have use of your own vehicle as driving is part of this role - mileage for business use is paid at a rate
of 45p per mile
- Prepared to commit to long term care for one client in a 'person-centred' way
- Willing to be trained to CQC standards to meet the client's needs
