This vacancy is for a personal assistant to join our client’s support package to support them in their own home. We will be your legal employer on behalf of the client and you will not be asked to support other clients. All of our contracts are for permanent positions with a 6 month probationary period.

We are looking to recruit a number of dependable, competent and responsible Personal Care Assistants who will provide a person-centred quality of life for a caring young lady, based in Slyne, Lancaster. We have full and part-time, day hours available. Your working shift pattern will be on a 2:1 staff ratio. This post is open to both male and female applicants.

The current rates are pay are:

£14.00 per hour - Mon-Fri: 8am - 10pm

£14.50 per hour - Sat-Sun: 8am - 10pm

£11.44 per hour for all Shadowing Shifts, Supervisions, Training and Team Meetings

About the Client and Support Needed:

I am a 24-year-old female with complex health needs who currently lives at home with my mum and fully supported by my close family members. I have a great sense of humour with an infectious laugh. I respond well to structure and routine in my life and like to plan my day ahead. I also understand some simple verbal communication/Makaton and I can also communicate through gestures.

I am fully mobile; however, due to some sensory difficulties, I may present with challenging behaviours, requiring my PA’s to always supervise me to ensure I am safe. I like going for daily walks or a nice drive out. I enjoy singing along to musicals and watching YouTube on my iPad. Sometimes I do like my own space, this is really important to me and I will let you know when I need it. I like my PA’s to be open, friendly and of a caring and genuine nature.

The overall purpose of the support package is to offer a person-centred approach, to ensure our client achieves a fulfilled, happy, safe, and sociable lifestyle. You will support with a wide range of personal care needs, whilst promoting independence. You will provide support in our client’s own home as well as in the community.

You will give reassurance and make her feel safe by ensuring she has a structured routine and by patiently supporting her during meals and everyday tasks. You will support our client to communicate effectively by training in Makaton (training provided) and giving her time to process information.

Despite the role at times being of a demanding nature, both physically and emotionally, it is also, equally, a very fulfilling and rewarding role.

You will be trained to CQC standards to meet the needs of the client. If you are 'already known to the client' and have care experience, this will be valued. Unless specified elsewhere, previous care experience is not essential.

Essential Requirements Identified for this Role:

- Experience of working in a similar environment and/or with individuals with challenging behaviour, epilepsy, learning difficulties/autism and mental health difficulties (full training will be provided)
- You must be a driver with a full, clean UK driving licence - you will drive the client's own vehicle
- An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this vacancy (expense to be met by HomeCareDirect)
- Prepared to commit to long term care for one client in a 'person-centred' way
- Willing to be trained to CQC standards to meet the client's needs
