Summary

Academic Appointments, in partnership with a Leeds, specialist deaf provision, are looking for talented, creative, and enthusiastic individuals to be positive role models for students who require additional support to access their education due to their sensory and physical impairments.
Our SEND Learning Support Assistants are given an opportunity to make a positive impact and provide support for these children with additional needs to access the next stages of their education.

What to expect

A specialist school for sensory and physical impairments and hearing-impaired pupils aged 3 to 19.
An oral school with a great emphasis on supporting the development of pupils’ spoken language as well as reading and writing.
All classrooms are acoustically treated, and pupils have speech therapy delivered by a team of therapists.
Some pupils have special needs in addition to deafness such as visual and physical impairments, dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, and ADHD.
Who are we looking for?

A successful candidate would:

Have experience in an educational setting either in mainstream schools or any other alternative provision.
A history of working with students with SEND.
A confident, caring, and assertive personality
Experience of British Sign Language is essential.

What we need from you:

To be currently available for full time employment.
2x references.
A valid Enhanced DBS Certificate or be willing to obtain one (we can assist with this part).
Team teach Positive behaviour management certificate preferred but not essential.
