Summary


Are you a specialist physiotherapist, who prides themselves on the success of your advanced knowledge and therapeutic intervention within general surgery? Do you have the drive and passion to ensure that all patients receive optimal care and you can influence the development of others? If so we welcome your application!

This is a opportunity for a new role of clinical lead physiotherapist in general surgery at York Hospital.

You will have excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills, be self-motivated and enjoy working as part of a supportive multi professional team. You will work collaboratively with system partners to improve the quality of patient care and ensure outcomes are monitored and reported on with clinical scrutiny. You will work closely with the team manager, AHP senior manager, professional lead and other clinical leads / advanced clinical specialists to offer advice and clinical expertise on local and national strategy.

You will work mindfully in accordance within the four pillars of practice, providing support and guidance to the wider team. You will autonomously to manage a patient caseload and have oversight of the patients within general surgery and take the lead for enhanced recovery.

You will also be required to work collaboratively with the advanced clinical specialist in critical care to provide training and education for the respiratory on-call service.
• Manage a complex clinical caseload within surgery services .
• Clinically lead across our surgery service at York hospital and work collaboratively with colleagues at our East Coast sites.
• Provide clinical leadership while working within the Four Pillars of practice.
• Keep abreast of national guidance and contribute locally to service audit.
• Offer oversight and assurance of our agreed governance framework.
• Provide quality assurance through the therapy service standards audit.
• Provide safety assurance through the competency framework.
• Provide clinical supervision to physiotherapy staff ensuring best practice is shared.
• Contribute to Quality Improvement projects within surgical services.
• Work closely with the MDT to ensure the patient experience is optimised.
• Work closely with the team manager, other clinical leads in the team and senior AHP manager to ensure excellent communication is observed.

You will have access to peer clinical supervision from specialists within and external to the Trust as well as professional support from the physiotherapy professional lead. There will be access to training opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge in this specialist area. You will be encouraged to network locally and nationally as a source of development and support.
