Summary

We are advertising for two Assistant Psychologists to work in the Cognitive Impairment and Dementia Services (CIDS) teams in West London (Ealing, H&F and Hounslow). CIDS is an all age service and the post holder will work with individuals with dementia (or possible dementia) and their carers under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.

The roles present opportunities to develop a wide range of clinical skills

Opportunities include working with colleagues in the provision of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy groups, delivering psycho-education sessions and undertaking other tasks which support the team in delivery of clinical care. There will be opportunities to learn skills in neuropsychology and to develop therapy skills with carers Their other key role will be in working with professional colleagues in supporting carers of individuals presenting with the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) both in individual’s home and in care homes.

The communities we serve are diverse and the post holder will work directly with people from many different backgrounds including Asian, Somalian and Arabic speaking communities. Interpreters are used routinely within the service but a knowledge of at least one relevant language (eg Arabic, Farsi, Punjabi, or Hindi) is desirable, (but not essential) for this post. An understanding of working with people from different cultures would also be an advantage.

Research activity is encouraged and well supported. Regular individual supervision from an experienced Clinical Psychologist is provided. You would also be able to access the Trust’s training resources to enhance your CPD.
