We are pleased to have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, forward thinking and dynamic individual to be part of our experienced team at Northumbria Wheelchair Service.
Northumbria Wheelchair Service provides comprehensive care for adults and children with diverse physical needs. Our team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists focus postural assessment and work closely with families and the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team. Our range of wheelchairs, from standard to complex are tailored to individual needs. Our goal is to support adults and children in achieving optimal mobility, posture, and overall well-being.
A driving licence, access to a car and business insurance is essential for this post (reasonable adjustments will be considered).
The post holder will work closely with OT, Physio and Technical Instructor supporting service users with their wheelchair provision. The role of the Therapy Assistant is to support the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy team in delivering their interventions. The work is varied and will involve working in a clinic environment, schools, home, care, and hospital settings, the role will also involve admin and stock control.
The right candidate will have experience in working in health and/or social care or similar settings and have an awareness of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and can work effectively as part of a Multi - Disciplinary Team. The post holder will be required to complete delegated tasks independently, training and regular supervision will be provided.
We are looking to appoint an individual who has the appropriate experience and qualifications, the right candidate will able to demonstrate a passion for Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, a flexible approach and a drive to develop themselves and the service they work in.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. Experience
Essential
• Experience of working as part of a team in a health or social care setting or similar.

• Previous experience working with and adults and/ or children with complex needs

• Good communication and organisational skills
• Competent IT skills the post holder will use electronic records daily
• Good verbal and written command of English language
• Ability to plan and organise own and delegated workload and work under pressure in a busy environment in a professional manner

• Understands the limits of the job role. Has the ability to recognise situations that require reporting and demonstrates the ability to escalate to a senior person when appropriate
