Gracemount High School is a small non-denominational secondary school with a roll of just over 600 pupils which serves the community of South East Edinburgh. The school was founded in 1959 as a junior secondary school and since the late 1960s has been a fully comprehensive six-year high school.

Gracemount High School was built under PPP and opened in 2003. The school’s leadership team comprise the Head Teacher, three Depute Head Teachers, a Senior Development Officer and a Business Manager. We have a complement of 50 teaching staff and 20 support staff.

We are a successful and thriving school community that serves a socially diverse community. Over 70% of our students live in quintile 1 and 2 of the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation. We are proud of every one of our students and our staff are skilled, conscientious, and caring.

We are looking to appoint a highly skilled, motivated, and experienced Administration Officer. While previous experience in a school setting is not essential a detailed knowledge of IT systems is vital along with skills and experience of managing finance, budgets and people. Essential and desirable core competencies are included in the job pack.

The role of School Administration Officer is crucial to the effective organisation and delivery of support services in Gracemount HS. The successful candidate will work closely with the Business Manager and Head Teacher and will be responsible for the management of the school office and core administration tasks. Other responsibilities are described in the Job Profile.

Our school values of Responsible, Respectful and Safe underpin our positive culture and ethos; where building the confidence and celebrating success of our young people is at the heart of what we do.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
