Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours

Role Length: This opening assignment is for up to 5 months

City: Matlock, Derbyshire

his role will initially require regular attendance at County Hall in Matlock for training. After training, there is the possibility of working several days remotely from home by mutual agreement. Candidates must be able to start immediately.

The purpose of the role is to provide administrative service or direct support to the Council’s internal or public services. The post holder will work in the Specialised Transport section, which procures and manages home to school transport services for students with special needs and disabilities.

This front-line service is responsible for organising the transport arrangements for approximately 1700 students with additional needs, to schools and establishments in Derbyshire and further afield. The environment is extremely busy, fast paced and can be challenging.

Key Responsibilities:

May be recognised as the main point of contact for a senior member of staff acting as a filter for issues/problems and aiming to resolve at least the routine problems in person in order to provide effective support and problem resolution, recommending alternative sources/courses of action if unable to assist.
May be a senior within a team delivering a specialised process, system or procedure.
Monitor or process financial or budgetary information.
Uses own, in depth knowledge of the area to provide clear information and guidance to service users/external contracts with regard to the specific procedures and methods of the department and advise on process/ next steps.
Liaison, communication and relationship building with service users other departments and external contracts on a regular basis to support/represent departmental or service activities.
Co-ordinate and manage the work of subordinates in the same area of work (where appropriate).

Qualifications:

Good general standard of education to GCSE standard in two suitable subjects (Maths and English preferred).
Qualified to level 3 in business administration and/or relevant and substantial experience.



Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Excellent organisational skills including ability to prioritise and allocate work.
Knowledge of administrative practices and processes.
Knowledge of data protection legislation and issues.
Monitoring financial information.
Ability to quickly up new systems and processes.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
