Cleaner Job Description
• Undertake, either as part of a team or alone, the cleaning of designated domestic, holiday lettings or commercial areas to ensure they are kept in a clean and hygienic condition.
• To work in a safe and efficient manner, treating all clients and colleagues in a fair, dignified and respectful manner.
Main Duties
• Cleaning, washing, dusting, sweeping and vacuum cleaning as necessary.
• To wash dishes if needed.
• Safe use of electrical equipment when necessary.
• Safe use of cleaning chemicals.
• Adherence to any dilution procedures and K&C’s Method Statement.
• Emptying litter and recycling bins.
• Use of appropriate PPE when using potentially abrasive/harmful cleaning equipment/chemicals.
• Polishing of any designated areas including furniture, mirrors and fixtures.
• Cleaning kitchens, bedrooms, toilets and bath/shower areas, replenishing kitchen roll/scourer/washing up liquid, toilet paper/soap if required.
• Up-to-date awareness of health and safety procedures. (Training will be offered).
• When lifting any equipment following necessary procedures.
• Removal of any items to be washed (bedding, towels, tea towels, oven gloves).
• To make beds and replace laundered items in a neat and presentable fashion.
• (Holiday lets) Ensure welcome/hospitality packs are in place.
• (Holiday lets) Report to the manager if guest belongings/money has been left or if any items in the property have been damaged. i.e. shortages, breakages, damaged equipment.
• Willingness to participate in any training for self-development.
• Basic maintenance if required (replace batteries in remotes and check lights are working).
Person specification
• GCSEs in mathematics and English (desirable).
• Have a full, clean driving licence and own car.
• Flexible in approach – ability to manage different routines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathetic with good listening skills.
• Good problem-solving abilities.
• To enjoy cleaning.
Responsibilities
• Report to the manager immediately via telephone or in person if any problems or concerns arise.
• Clean designated domestic or commercial areas safely and maintain high standards.
• Alert the manager if a vacuum cleaner replacement is needed.
• Report to the manager when supplies need replenishing (welcome/hospitality packs, toiletry items and cleaning solutions).
Must be prepared to undertake DBS checks and provide the relevant information to do so. Must be prepared to work some weekends and Bank Holidays (especially during May to September).
